Assistant Coach Required
After playing their final game of the season this morning Kippax Under 12's are wasting no time in preparing for their Under 13's season and the first task is to recruit an additional Assistant Coach to the team.
As the team are set for a well earned rest followed by their Tour De France at the end of May preperations off the field are already in motion as we look to recruit an additional Coach to join the team for our U13's campaign.
A Game of Two Halves
Shaw Cross Sharks v Kippax Welfare 14th March 2010
The under 9's resumed their campaign with a trip to Dewsbury having moved up two groups since last year.
The first half was one way traffic with the bigger Sharks outfit threatening to score every time they had the ball and after conceding six try's the only positive for Kippax was a score by Takudzwa.
Coach Richard's half time talk did the trick as the second half saw a steely display by Kippax gain it's reward as they matched Shaw Cross try for try, with both sides crossing three times.
Welfare Cut Loose
Kippax Welfare 42 v 8 Milford Marlins 13th March 2010
Kippax faced Milford looking to avenge a narrow defeat the last time the sides met.
Kippax moved up to second in the league with a comfortable victory against an under strength Milford outfit.
In a tight first half Russell opened the scoring under the sticks before Jordan finished a flowing move to cross in the corner. Liam added a conversion before Milford hit back with a try of their own and with the score 10-4 at half time the match was evenly balanced.
Welfares Winning Run Comes To An End
Kippax Welfare 14 vs 23 New Earswick AB
13/03/10
The unbeaten sequence of six games came to an end in very disappointing fashion when Kippax Welfare were comprehensively beaten at home to New Earswick on Saturday.
NEAB were much more enthusiastic and organised than the home team, who were very lethargic and although they took an early lead they never looked likely to win the game.
Kippax Extend Winning Ways
Halifax Irish 16 vs 18 Kippax Welfare
06/03/10
Kippax Welfare extended their winning sequence with a narrow win, in a tough and bruising game, to consolidate their position in the Pennine Premier League.
They were indebted to the big, powerful centre, Richard Stone who produced a hat trick of tries in the first half, for an 4 - 18 score before Welfare had to dig deep and defend for their lives to come away with the win.
Welfare move up to 5th Spot
Kippax 30 vs 26 New Earswick
20/02/10
For the third week running Kippax Welfare drew on all their resilience and 'never say die ' attitude to gain a win in the Pennine Premier League.
They were 22 - 6 down after 5 minutes of the second half but player coach Gavin Swinson came on at hooker and completely changed the game, with his team responed magnificently to his promptings to run out winners in the dying moments of the game. The game started at a furious pace with both sets of forwards tearing into each other with prop Adam Withington and second rowers Rob Firth and Richard Stone to the fore in both attack and defence.
Kippax Head for the Semi's
Townville Tigers 18 v 28 Kippax Welfare 13th Feb 2010
Kippax headed down the road for this Continuation Cup Quarter Final and have a home Semi Final tie against Wetherby Bulldogs as their reward
Having started well Kippax took first blood when Jordan joined the attacking line on halfway, broke the defensive line and rounded the fullback before grounding under the sticks. Wes added the extras and Kippax had a 6-0 lead, which was shortlived as Townville hit back to level things. Russ then ran at the heart of the Tigers defence, evaded a couple of tackles and skipped over the whitewash, with another conversion making it 12-6.
Welfare Cement 6th Place
Kippax Welfare 18 v 12 Keighley Albion
13/02/10
Kippax Welfare earned a further two precious points and in doing so moved up to sixth place in the Pennine Premier League.
In a tough and bruising encounter against Keighley Albion. The Keighley pitch resembled a ploughed field which was more suited to Keighley who had a huge, heavy pack and were determined to play a one out forward dominated game. However as in previous recent weeks, Kippax tackled like demons and refused to be bulldozed. The whole Kippax team stuck to their task with player coach Gavin Swinson and skipper Andy Walker setting a magnificant tackling lead. Kippax were the only team to open up play and it paid off on a couple of occasions with well taken tries.
