Kippax Crash
Milford Marlins 22 v 18 Kippax Welfare 17th Oct 2009
Kippax headed to Milford looking to keep their unbeaten record in tact.
Kippax suffered their first defeat of the season after they made their customary slow start and were unable to recover despite a second half fight back. The only highlight of the first half was a try from prop James which was converted by Wes and they went into the break 16-6 down.
Two unconverted tries from James and stand off Russell reduced the deficit to 2 points before Milford sealed the match with a converted try. James then rounded off a fine match with his hat trick score and with the two sides notching four tries each it was conversions that won the day for Milford. Wes took MOM with a fine all round display, James was MOM runner up on the back of some powerful running and Thomas made good ground going forward to take Most Improved. Forwards George, Harry and Azza drove the ball in well whilst Max and Jack were constant threats with their mazy running. Fullback Ben was tidy at the back, James Barra and Mossba showed some nice footwork out wide and Adam and Jordan made some crucial tackles. Half backs Russell and Tom worked well together and Sam showed nice hands.
