Early finish for Kippax
Kippax Welfare 20 v 4 New Earswick All Blacks 21st Nov 2009
Kippax hosted the York side on a chilly and blustery morning.
They opened with some scintillating rugby and the match was over as a contest in the first 15 minutes as they broke the All Blacks line three times. Fullback Ben was the first to score as he joined the attacking line on halfway and broke through the defence with a sidestep. With Mossa in support he went clear to beat his opposite number and cross under the sticks. Azza soon followed as he took a pass 5 yards out and crossed under the sticks to finish a fine passing move that had started wide on the right. Liam then forced his way over on the right to register the third try and as he converted 2 of the tries Kippax held a 16-0 lead. The All Blacks then tightened their defence and the score stayed at 16-0 going into the break.
The second half was a dour affair and Kippax gave away a series on penalties for interfernce in and around the ruck to put themselves under pressure and eventually conceded a try. Theyw ere soon able to hit back though when Russell skipped over and re-established their 16 point lead. From there the defences held sway and there were no further points scored.
The Kippax pack did well with James, George, Robbie, Jordan and Harry all making good ground. Mossa and Luke held their own out wide whilst Max and Jack made some crucial tackles. Wes distributed the ball well, Tom made some darting runs and Adam was a constant threat as the All Blacks were on the back foot. Sam was solid in defence and James Bar ran the ball in well.
