Montgeron wheel out the big guns
Montgeron 20 v 8 Kippax Welfare U12's 29th May 2010
Having cruised through their opening match Kippax now faced the giants of Montgeron.
Far and away the three best players Kippax faced were all on the Montgeron team and the writing was on the wall early when the 6ft 2in loose forward released their wing footed fullback to speed down the touchline for a 4-0 lead. It was to their credit that Kippax hit back as Russ ran at the defensive line before dummying to cross under the posts and Max added the kick for an unexpected 6-4 lead. Montgeron then unleashed The Beast, a teenage version of Paleaaesina, and on his first run it took Harrison, Azza, William and Jack to put him down. On his next run Jordan, Adam and Harry managed to stop him running but his legs kept pumping 'til they took him down. With increased momentum and despite some fierce Kippax defence, with Ben, Mosa and James Bar all making last ditch tackles, Montgeron added two unconverted try. Luckily for Kippax their kicking was as bad as their attack was good and Montgeron could only take a 12-6 lead into the break.
Kippax continued to push and there were good breaks from Sam and Tom, strong running from Harry and Thomas and some good ground made by James and George but all to no avail. Montgeron crossed twice more and it looked like the floodgates would open until one huge effort turned the flow of the final quarter. With The Beast in full flow Liam advanced head on and James shot out from the defensive line, with the pair of them putting on one almighty hit. For probably the first time in his life The Beast was slain and he lay flat on his back with his conquerors standing over him. He left the pitch and didn't return as Kippax pressed looking for the score that would get them back into the match. Unfortunatley it never came as it was all hands on deck in defence with Jordan, Russ and William all pytting the shoulder in. Kippax had the final word as Liam slotted a penalty to bring the curtain down on the match.
