Welcome to the U8's section

My name is Si I've been helping out at Kippax under 8's now for the last few months. I'd originally brought my son Elliott to see if he enjoyed it after I heard about the Thursday night training from Andy Lynch who is one of the coaches. My son is very shy so I ended up running round with him at first to get him used to it and now he loves it! But having run round with the kids for a few weeks I've ended up enjoying so much I've started helping out because it's great to see how much the kids enjoy it.

I help out mainly with the under 6's with Andy Edgill who's son Alfie also joins in. This year with the under 6's we are going to try and organise some "tag" rugby matches against other clubs for a bit of fun. Thursday nights are all about having fun and letting the kids enjoy themselves whilst teaching them the basics of Rugby League.

Parents can watch at the side of the training pitch within view of any nervous children and as I did when I first came up with Elliott parents are always welcome to help their kids settle in and have a run around and hold hands if need be. We often ask parents to help hold the tackling bags which many enjoy doing to see their son or daughter smash the bags.

The training on a Thursday night caters for boys and girls of all ages and abilities and it's great to see how much the kids enjoy it. It's great to see as many kids as possible on a Thursday and who knows we may find the next stars of Super League but whether we do or not we'll certainly have some fun along the way!!

Kippax have achieved clubmark!
