Welcome to the U14's section - 2010/2011

The under 14’s go into a new season on the back of a fantastic first year as a competitive team.

They formed back in 2004 and were coached by Phil Edgell and Andy Lynch. They guided them through basic ball handling and tackling skills which started them on the right track to become the players they are today.

Phil has remained head coach and for the past few years has had support from Alan Noon. A recent addition to the coaching staff is Wayne Harling, he has been a member of the club for many years, starting out as a junior player and worked his way to play for the open age.

Training has been tough for the boys for the past few weeks as the afore mentioned coaches have been putting them through their paces to get their fitness levels back up, for the start of the season. They have been circuit training and road running. The toughest session being given by Andy Lynch. We have seen some very red faces at the end of each sessions, but they must enjoy it, they keep coming back for more!

Training for the under 14’s is on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6.15pm and are usually an hour long. Ball handling and tackling are key areas worked on, with some fun games included to help improve kicking, catching and throwing the ball.

Phil, Alan, Wayne and the boys are always encouraging new players to join. Everyone at the club is friendly and inviting, there is a great team atmosphere through all age groups. Anyone wanting to join can come along and meet at the front of the clubhouse.

The boys love everything about rugby, they are eager for the new season to start and are looking forward to their first game of the season. I wonder what they will do if they win the league again!!
